Ȥҹapp responds to competition watchdog’s provisional decision and welcomes call for vet practice regulation

The Ȥҹapp’s (Ȥҹapp) charity, the Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF), is searching for talented people to join its Board of Trustees and committees as it embarks on a new three-year strategy.
ճٲis looking fornew trusteeswith a background incharitygovernance and a Treasurer with strong financial skills and experience.There are also vacancies onitsEducation Committee, which plans and deliversa range of educational initiatives, including the renowned annual Discussion Forum, and onitsGrantsCommittee, which assesses andfundswelfare research projects.
Animal Welfare Foundation Chair of Trustees Julian Kupfersaid:“This is an exciting time tovolunteer atAWF with its new strategy and aneven closer working relationship with Ȥҹappthan ever. We’relooking for people with the time andexpertiseto help govern and direct the charity and play a key role in its education and research work.We have recentlyrestructured how we operate, so as well as looking for new Trustees, we are opening our committees to enable more veterinary and welfare professionals to get meaningfully involved.”

Established in 1983, AWF places animal welfare at the forefront of veterinary knowledge via research,educationand debate. It supports improvements in animal welfare by funding animal welfare research and education initiatives that consider farmed animals, horses, pets, and wildlife.This includes student and graduate education.Its annual Discussion Forum brings influential people together to explore contested or fast-moving areas of welfare science, ethics, and practice.

Tickets for AWF’s flagship event, the Discussion Forum 2026,are now on sale.
The event is being held on 11 May 2026 at the Cavendish Conference Centre in London andhas sessionson topics including rewilding, rehabilitation,petsand livestock, with opportunities to network and continue conversations throughout the day.
