Entry criteria:

  • Dedication to mentorship
    Demonstrates consistent and meaningful investment in others’ growth by offering time, guidance, and tailored support. Shows reliability, approachability, and a genuine commitment to helping others progress in their careers.

  • Positive impact
    Clear evidence of the difference their mentorship has made, such as boosting confidence, enabling professional development, supporting wellbeing, helping achieve goals, or contributing to the wider veterinary community.

  • Inspiring role model
    Leads by example through their behaviour, values, and professionalism. Encourages a culture of support, collaboration, and wellbeing, inspiring both mentees and colleagues.

Howwill this award be judged?

Judges will score nominations based on the entry criteria. It is not necessary to evidence all criteria, however this will enable a higher score at judging. Please give as much detail as possible.

Sharon, a small animal vet at Downes Veterinary Services and a lecturer in Veterinary Science at Aberystwyth School of Veterinary Science,won the awardfor her compassion and for supporting those who “might have fallen into the cracks along the way”.Her nominations mentioned herpersonal touchand how she works hard to support those who need her as a whole person, not just as a vet student.
